Awan has organized cross-sector events that highlight its role as a convenor of dialogue at the intersection of technology, media, and society. One such initiative was a conference on AI and Access to Information, which brought together scholars, technicians, journalists, and civil society actors to examine how artificial intelligence is reshaping the landscape of information access.

In collaboration with the Climate Change Program at the Issam Fares Institute (IFI) at the American University of Beirut (AUB), Awan also co-organized a conference that explored the links between climate change, media, and communication practices. The conference fostered exchange between academics and practitioners, contributing to stronger understanding and collaboration across fields.
